Vintage Electric Car Dorks Rejoice! (Another Ebay Elcar)

Not all Ebay ads are created equal.

I am normally disappointed with Ebay ads for vintage electric cars - it's hard for the regular joe/jo to put together a great ebay ad, but once in a while you find an Ebay seller who transcends from seller to historian. Today, I have to give it up for 008hoopty!

I hopped over to Ebay this morning to tempt myself with the forbidden fruit of "electric car" and it appeared:

You never know what Tennessee is going to have to offer.

As I scrolled down, I found an online museum exhibit of everything Zagato Elcar. If you are interested in this "penalty box" on wheels, you owe it to yourself to get over to Ebay (before it sells) to read all the info presented there. Me, I am lazy, so I am just going to share some of the images from the posting.

May you be delighted with knowledge and mirth today, and may you find your electric dream.

Vintage Electric Car Profile: Zagato Elcar

From a blog post about ugly electric cars that you probably shouldn't translate

One of the sites I like to visit often is EV Tradin' Post. If you want to find a used electric vehicle or parts, it's a great place to start. You never know what you will find there. When I looked today, there were a few Beetles, a few Porsches, a Fiero, a BMW, a Mustang, a Focus, a Miata, Rangers, S10s, a box truck, a Zenn, a few scooters and motorcycles, and a $750 ZAGATO ELCAR! (A Zagato Zele if you picked yours up in Italy)

From Wikipedia

A what?!!! Well, for those of you who in the know, imagine a Citicar, then make it less of a wedge and more of a box, and make it Italian, but boxy Italian - not sexy Italian. It was produced around the same time - mid 1970s. It came in versions from 48 volts to 96 volts and had a range up to 50 miles. Pretty impressive for the time! And it's one more reason that my wife is thankful that I have very little disposable income and garage space.

May your beloved electric car not make the top 10 ugly list, and if it does, may you revel in it, snagit!

Vintage Electric Car Profile: The Very Tiny Kewet

It's no secret that I like oddball vintage electric cars, especially Citicars. On my list right up with the Citicar, though, is the Citicar's sleeker, younger, Norwegian cousin, the Kewet. A kewet popped up on Ebay this week (a fixer-upper) and I thought maybe it was time to do a little featurette on the tiny 3 person car from way over there. So, here are three links in case you want to expand your knowledge on a non-expansive electric car.
